Global Business and Law Summit and Fringe Events

The Ministry of Justice (MoJ) is committed to the protection and security of your personal information.

It is important that you read this notice so that you are aware of how and why we are using such information. This privacy notice describes how we collect and use personal information during and after your relationship with us, in accordance with data protection law. They will be updated regularly.

The type of personal data we process

We currently collect and use the following information:

  • name
  • job title
  • organisation name
  • email address
  • phone number

We also collect special categories of information, such as:

  • dietary requirements
  • accessibility requirements
  • religious or philosophical beliefs (where relevant to meeting your event, dietary, accessibility or participation requirements)

How we get your personal data and why we have it

Most of the personal information we process is provided to us directly by you for one of the following reasons:

  • to register your interest in attending the Global Business and Law Summit and associated Fringe Programmes
  • to manage event registrations and attendance
  • to communicate with you about the event, including invitations, registration details, agenda updates and event-related information
  • to facilitate any accessibility requirements you may have
  • to facilitate any dietary requirements you may have.

We also receive personal information indirectly, from the following sources in the following scenarios:

  • your employer or organisation, where they nominate you to attend the Global Business and Law Summit or associated Fringe Programmes
  • business networks and partner organisations
  • publicly available sources, including organisational websites and professional bodies.

We use the personal data we receive to:

  • monitor and manage interest, invitations, registrations and attendance of the Global Business and Law Summit and associated Fringe Programmes
  • communicate important information relating to the Global Business and Law Summit or associated Fringe Programmes
  • facilitate accessibility and dietary requirements where requested

Under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), the lawful bases we rely on for processing Personal Data is:

Article 6(1)(e) – to perform a public task necessary for the performance of a task carried out in the public interest

Under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), the lawful bases we rely on for processing special categories is:

Article 9(2)(a) – your explicit consent to the processing of personal data relating to accessibility requirements or dietary requirements that may reveal health information, religious beliefs or philosophical beliefs.

We may share your personal information with Amplitude Event Solutions Ltd, who are acting on behalf of the Ministry of Justice to support the delivery of the Global Business and Law Summit and associated Fringe Programme.

The personal information shared will be limited to what is necessary for event administration and may include your name, job title, organisation, email address, dietary and accessibility requirements, and attendance preferences.

Amplitude Event Solutions Ltd will process this information solely for the purposes of:

  • managing event registration and attendance
  • communications related to the Global Business and Law Summit and associated Fringe Programme
  • managing event logistics and venue arrangements
  • providing event management support services

Amplitude Event Solutions Ltd take precautions to process and protect personal information in accordance with contractual obligations agreed with the Ministry of Justice.

International Data Transfers

There are no international transfers of data.

How we store your personal data

Personal data is stored securely and in accordance with our information management and retention policies.

Personal data will be retained for up to 3 years for the necessary administration, delivery and evaluation of the Global Business and Law Summit and associated Fringe Programmes and to facilitate any related event communications.

At the end of this period, personal data will be securely deleted and will not be retained by the event management provider or other recipients beyond the agreed retention period, unless required by law.

Your Rights

Under the UK General Data Protection Regulation and the Data Protection Act 2018, you have the right to request copies of your, or someone else’s with their specific written consent, personal data from organisations including government departments. The data protection laws give you rights over that data, including making sure it is correct, how it should be handled and when it should be deleted. Depending on the lawful basis on which your personal data is being processed, not all rights will apply.

Cookies and analytics

We use analytics cookies to count visits and see how the site is used, so we can improve it. They are only set if you agree when the banner asks. If you say no, or ignore the banner, nothing is stored on your device and nothing is recorded. Saying no changes nothing else — every page and the registration form work exactly the same way.

If you agree, we record which pages are visited and how people move through the site, including how far they get through the registration form. Nothing you type into the form is ever sent — not your name, your email address, your employer or your job title. You are not identified and no profile is built about you. There is no session recording and no advertising.

The analytics are provided by PostHog, which holds the information in the European Union. Your IP address is not stored.

To change your mind, open and switch analytics off or on. Turning it off takes effect straight away and deletes what was stored. You can also email gblsummit@justice.gov.uk.

What this website loads from other organisations

If you reject analytics cookies, or never answer the banner: nothing. Both typefaces are served from this domain rather than from a font service. The map in the venue section is drawn from OpenStreetMap data when the site is built and served as part of the page, rather than embedded from a mapping company. There is no video, no social media widget and no chat window. Opening a page of this site does not tell any other organisation that you were here.

If you accept analytics cookies, the analytics software is loaded from PostHog’s European servers. Nothing is loaded from them unless you accept.
